ALLEY GRASS - PASSAGEWAYS PUBLIC ART

Passageways is a public art competition in Chattanooga, TN. NEW OFFICE was one of three finalists out of a total of 120 submissions. The proposal, Alley Grass, is a interactive art piece that engages its users and makes them part of the project. Alley Grass is both sculptural and spatial. It transforms the alley through its scale, composition, and effect into a destination. When at rest, the blades gently pulse, illuminating the alley subtly hinting that there’s more to discover. When an single blade is pushed, the entire group reacts, lighting up different colors depending on the direction of the movement.
